Anthony Nwaochei, FBR – Managing Partner

ANTHONY NWAOCHEI is a law graduate of the University of Benin and a Barrister & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Between 1994 and 1999, Tony was the Company Secretary and General Counsel of Societe Bancaire Nigeria Limited (Merchant Bankers) a Nigerian investment bank with foreign affiliation which merged with several other legacy banks to form the entity now known as Unity Bank Plc.

Tony heads the Business Advisory Practice Team of the Firm and is a consummate solicitor with extensive experience in

Business Start-ups & Investments; Mergers, Acquisitions & Corporate Restructuring; Corporate Governance & Regulatory Compliance; Business Recovery & Insolvency; Competition; and Construction & Real Estate amongst other areas. He has over the years advised on a significant number of complex commercial transactions across the aforementioned areas. Tony is also regularly involved in several complex debt restructuring and debt recovery transactions on behalf of creditor financial institutions and also debtor companies and as a corollary, is frequently appointed as a liquidator and receiver/manager of companies indebted to financial institutions.

He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, International Bar Association, International Trademarks Association

(INTA) and Capital Market Solicitors Association. He is also a Fellow of the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN) and has been listed in Who’s Who Legal, an International publication of the world’s leading lawyers country by country and areas of specialization.

Tony is currently a Council Member of the Section on Business Law of the Nigerian Bar Association and the immediate past Chairman of the Employment & Industrial Relations Committee of the Section on Business Law of the Nigerian Bar Association.
